The collaboration between the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the VisMederi Foundation continues, with the shared goal of promoting education, research, and international scientific exchange in the field of vaccinology. On the occasion of the 25th edition of the International Vaccinology Course, the VisMederi Foundation was pleased to invite Dr. Serena Marchi, from the Department of Molecular and Developmental Medicine at the University of Siena, to serve as a lecturer. The Foundation has already had several opportunities to collaborate with Dr. Marchi on scientific initiatives. Dr. Marchi delivered the lecture entitled “Beyond National Averages: Reaching Zero-Dose Children and Strengthening Vaccine Confidence. Lessons from Italy”, offering participants an insight into the Italian experience in vaccination coverage, the identification of communities that are more difficult to reach, and strategies aimed at strengthening confidence in vaccines. The lecture provided an important opportunity to explore and discuss some of the key challenges facing contemporary vaccinology, starting with the need to ensure equitable access to vaccination and to develop targeted interventions to reach the most vulnerable populations.

Also attending the event was Veronica Cannucci, General Director of the VisMederi Foundation, who expressed her appreciation for Dr. Marchi’s scientific contribution and highlighted the value of collaboration between academic institutions and organizations committed to research and public health. In a global context characterized by increasingly complex challenges, dialogue and collaboration among institutions are essential tools for promoting scientific innovation, improving access to vaccination, and strengthening public confidence in immunization and prevention.

Participation in the International Vaccinology Course further confirms the VisMederi Foundation’s commitment to promoting research, education, and public health, while strengthening scientific collaborations at both national and international levels.

The Foundation would like to extend its sincere thanks to Dr. Serena Marchi for her availability, professionalism, and valuable contribution to the course participants, and to the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) for the warm welcome and for providing this valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and collaboration.
