In recent years, Fondazione VisMederi has strengthened its cultural engagement, complementing its scientific and social initiatives with a series of literary events and book presentations. The Foundation has aimed to provide the Siena community with opportunities for reflection on history, politics, and contemporary society.
In 2024, the program started with Stefania Craxi’s book, All’ombra della storia, which combined personal memory and political history. The event allowed the public to explore the story of the Craxi family through the author’s perspective, moderated by local journalists. That same year, the Foundation also supported social projects, including sports and therapeutic activities for people with disabilities, emphasizing its commitment to inclusion and solidarity.
In 2025, the cultural program continued and expanded. In January, Stefano Bisi presented Le dittature serrano i cuori, examining episodes of fascist violence in recent Italian history. In June, authors Marcello Foa and Federico Giuliani offered insights into contemporary society and North Korean life, in an event exploring geopolitics, media, and individual freedom.
These initiatives demonstrate that Fondazione VisMederi has chosen to complement its scientific and social work with an active cultural role, using reading and discussion as tools to understand the present and preserve collective memory.
